Sorry!

Wow everyone, I just saw a few of you threw down some comments, Thank you for the support. So what can I do specifically to help you understand the Gobi ideal more? I am currently working on a Gobi Guidelines field manual. That will help out tremendously, but until that is complete, as me any question and I will answer promptly.
Many thanks for tuning in!
Best,
GMG

Quite possibly the best nick name ever??!

Good thing I know what model number he runs.

Mecca!

Gobi HQ.  Thank you Chain (Robby) and Charlie for the documentation and submission.

Cold as Ice

Smooth bulging frontal zone, little wheels, small hidden lights, awkward cleaning brush attached to a metal arm that juttz out (hopefully jerky, fast, and un-finessed engineering, like the hard to control arm dipper at Dennys that grabbed the toys out of the bin, but never having success, feelin' kinda dumb.) upon a press of a button from the Zamboni driver. Loving this one.

NAGOBISA

What a good combo. The ground-breaking progressive power house of space exploration and the one and only awkward and unassuming folks at Gobi Intl. team up to bring you this Gobiquest shuttle. Bask in the upper shell unit, vaulting much higher than any other flying craft I have seen, subsequently casting its self in to the Gobi formula. Bravo! Photo submitted by Max. Cheers mate!

Gobi Von Speed Wobble

Take a good look at this. Now, close your eyes, picture this: Homeboy is flying down the highway, or even better, a large hill, lookin' proud, feelin' good, smirkin' hard as he takes a corner at 60 mph. Whoooops, he took that corner a little to sharp and now what? Yes, the speed wobble set's in. Massive lateral sways would begin, still trying to remain calm (because his 3 years of hard work developing this gobi-mobile would not be thwarted by a corner taken too fast), but he can't get it under control again, so now he is just going to ride it out, the swaying wobbles have now increased to a rapid violent skip. At this point he would attempt bail out - but unfortunately he would just be going just a little too fast to leave the now out of control machine... Anyway - The machine it's self has Gobi elements but could use a little more bulbous matter to earn a 100%. I HOPE to see this machine one day in motion creeping down my street at 1am.

Folks, I can't believe it... He survived. Its all good, and he is back on the scene upgrading this wild gobi-contraption.

Flight of the Gobigator

Sam F. "You know what is Gobi" Gobi M. "What??" Sam F. "That pod thing in the Flight of the Navigator!" So we looked it up, and laughs ensued... This is PURE GOBI (90%). I cannot stress enough the sheer awkward shape, color and size of this machine. It is not unassuming, that is the only thing that takes away from giving this find 100% Gobi, but it is up there... Many thanks to Sam F. for giving in to the GSS and joining me in never ending hunt for All Things Gobi.

OC (Orange County) / OCC (out of control) Gobi Tripod

At letter and photo submission from Orange County, CA
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hey Gobi McBaxgwain,

Check out the Tripod Gobi on wheels. There are so many elements that make this an outstanding photo and sighting. Didnt know lightning could strike twice in a month. This was a full flashback to my first Gobi experience in SD walking back to the hotel with you and Dustin after breakfast.

Like the first sighting it was Dustin and I still recovering from a night with the Froth. Blurry headed and sweating from the intense SC sun we were walking back to Dustins mom's house from the Ocean Fest at T-Street. We were about to cross the road when an unofficial guy stopped us and made way for the classic surf car parade. The Tripod Gobi was leading the way for the classic cars.

Hope this is Gobi worthy. Take a look and let me know what you think...

***Dustin was the first to spot the Tripod Gobi, I was just lucky enough to have my camera handy in the front row.

peace,
chain

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is Neo-Gobi folks. Awkward: The overall odd design and contour of the tripod vehicle screams Gobi, the human seating position is weird too. What if this guy was going 80 mph? He could not get in to a sport position, like crouch down or get aerodynamic. ANNDDD, the wipe out??? Feelin' it right? Back to the Gobi aesthetic - I am really liking how this machine reminds me of a swollen praying mantis. The skeletal rear wheel jutting out of the back, separated from the rest of the vehicle... All Gob'd out. Feelin' that. Thank you for the submission Chain. Look forward to more.

Danny "Gobi" Glover

Aside the Gobi ear protection, check out the gloves. If I had a pair of these I would be stoked! Honestly, if anybody knows what these Gobi nubule's are used for, please write me and fill me in. I am curious - when this guy is slipping the gloves on, (making a fist and opening his hand in a rapid motion, pulling hard to get the glove on faster) what is he thinking when he looks at the Gobi portion of the glove?

Submission 2 - The sound of Gobi

Shouts out to Blair on the other side of the hill, deep in the thick of it, getting all GSS with it. Classic Gobi qualities. Color A+, shape and texture, dead ringin' it. Funny enough, you see these all over, It sticks out like a sore toe (Dustin GSS, Street team - had a spotting in L.A. last weekend). Good to know that people all over the world are toting the unexpected collaboration sound system from Gobi and JBL.
Good man for the submission, people are tuning in...

Hov Pod

In response to a letter I sent to the good people over at Hov Pod in the UK - If anyone is interested in attaining a Hov Pod, go thru Hov Pod's US distribution in North Palm Beach, Florida. Info below - ( I had to edit the letter, but it was mainly tech specs in regards to some questions I had regarding the craft in open oceanic adventures and games)

Dear Gobi Mcbaxgwain,
Thanks for your interest in the Hov Pod. Our assembly factory is based in Southampton, England. Distribution of the Hov Pod in the USA is handled by Ideal Recreations, LLC. based in North Palm Beach, Florida.

I visited your Blog and now understand how our Hov Pod design fits the Gobi standard. The Hov Pod is designed for conditions up to Force 4 so heavy surf would be too rough for the craft. Depending on engine, one tank of fuel could deliver a range of up to 3 hours per tank. Feel free to borrow images from our website www.hovpod.com to draw comparisons of the Hov Pod to a Gobi. You have got me thinking about Gobis now, sure I can think of more comparisons.

Ideal Recreations are currently establishing dealers throughout the US, though clearly this may take some time to ensure national coverage. See link to recent demo of the Hov Pod in West Palm Beach area - http://www.wptv.com/news/local/story.aspx?content_id=55a44883-09eb-41e5-9c1e-3fb6de8b3d9a

For further details regarding demonstration or reseller opportunities, please contact Jim Verri at Ideal Recreations, via email at hovpod@idealrecreations.com. Jim's telephone number is (561)385-5230 He will be able to answer all your questions on pricing, shipping, delivery time, engines, options etc.

We are in the process of redesigning our website to make it more user friendly, and easier to navigate. For videos, please see http://www.youtube.com/group/hovercraft

Thanks for your interest.

C'MON!! Gobicraft, NOT Hovercraft

I am REALLY excited about this post. This delves deep in to the Gobi. This is getting to a near perfect ten for All Thing Gobi. You can compare ratios with this Gobicraft to our special friend in my first post. (Peepin' Scene Monkey). Small windows (small eyes of the monkey), Over-sized Segmented Skirt, that is the bottom of the hovercraft (belly of the monkey) and awkward fan placement and size ratio (nose of the monkey). When these elements are combined the Gobi is born. Notice that the craft is low and wide, and the majority of this thing is flat.
*Awkward and unassuming is another key element to the Gobi standard.

Submission 1

Dear Gobiest Mcbaxgwain,
This Gobi has been lurking in my art studio over here on the Big Island for the last year and a half. It critiques the shit out of me on a daily basis. Is there anything I can do?

Thank you for your time,
Chainface's bigger blonder brother

Thanks CBBB for the email & submission-
Looks like you have a classic case of GSS. Gobi Spotting Syndrome. This is a good thing, trust me. I do not think you can do much about this Gobi critiquing you, you need to give in to it. Let it help your creativity. Remember, Gobi counts.
The photo you sent has classic Gobi'esque qualities. All though the proportions are too even, and subject matter is somewhat low on the obscurity scale (which is OK, I posted the mirror so no sweat) - the surface matter, shape and color fall in to the Gobi guidelines.
Talk to you soon,
GMBG

Good to see people are starting to catch on. This submission came to me from Hawaii on June 29th, 2008. If you would like to submit any Gobi finds, have questions or comments, don't hesitate to contact me. Many thanks, GMBG.

Feelin' the environment

I have to give it up to my man Max over at VLU for tuning in to this Gobi jam. Max has been with it (Gobi spottings) for years now...  Thanks for the contribution!

Keyword "Smooth"

Currently I am building a Gobi Guidelines manual. I will post it ASAP, in the meantime I will post a few key elements to a perfect Gobi. Smooth surfaces gets BOSS points when looking for Gobi matter. Getting it yet?

Obvious

This will be one of the only "obvious" posts I make.  Since this is just the start of the game, thought I would throw out a freebee. Enjoy this spectacular display of Gobi.

Transporting the Gob'z.

Headed south on the 405, scorching day, what do I see??? A very small but well crafted NEW Gobi being transported to the OC, with possibly some more Gobi items? I wish...

Euro dream

During a recent trip to Germany, I had a few Gobi sightings. This one stood out to me. Please note again, the amazing back tire to fender size ratio. How is that rear fender cusping over the wheel!??  Amazing combo. I want to meet the designer of this, let him know he sculpted a beautiful display of Gobi. Hats off...

Peepin' scene.

Pretty much everything about this amazing friend is Gobi. Look at the size relationship of the nose and the eyes, this ratio is a dead ringer for Gobi matter. The belly situation is wild, very Gobi. Glad this is the first post. Warming you up.

Info from the desk of Gobi McBaxgwain

Here we go... This blog is dedicated to my obsession with All Things Gobi. I knew I would not have to check the URL availability on this blog name, so that lessened my stress on getting this just right.  No need for me to describe the essence of Gobi, ill let the images speak for them self. Enjoy!
